Fertilización de masas semilleras de pinos en Cuba Horsten, F. Se hizo el análisis del ensayo de fertilizantes en Pinus caribaea var. caribaea, establecido en octubre de 1967, en suelo Guane loam arcilloso, derivado de rocas esquistosas y pizarrosas, ubicado en Viñales, Pinar del Río. Se presenta una evaluación del efecto de varias combinaciones se los fertilizantes N, P y K, con y sin abono orgánico, sobre el crecimiento en altura, número de árboles con conos y producción de conos por tratamiento. La utilización de 50 kg de N, en forma de urea, y 50 kg de P2O5, en forma de triple superfosfato, sin abono orgánico, ha dado aumentos sobresalientes en altura y en producción de conos. Sobre la base de esta evaluación, se hacen recomendaciones provisionales para la fertilización de las masas semilleras en Cuba. Se recomienda un aclareo de las masas semilleras de clase A, dejando 400 árboles por hectárea y hacer aplicaciones anuales, por árbol, de 500 g de urea y 500 gramos de triple superfosfato en los suelos Guane; y 1 500 g de 15-20-10, en los suelos Nipe y Sabana. An analysis was made of the fertilizer trial with Pinus caribaea var. caribaea established in October, 1967 on a Guane Clay Loam soil derived from shale and slate, located in Vinales, Pinar del Río Province. It presents an assessment of the effect of the various combinations of the N, P, K fertilizers, with or without organic fertilizer, on height growth, the number of trees with cones and the production of cones per treatment. The utilization of 50 kg of N in the form of urea, and 50 kg of in the form of triple superphosphate without organic fertilizer has given outstan- ding increases in height and cone production. Provisional recommen-- dations are made for the fertilization of seed stands in Cuba on the basis of this assessrnent. It recommends a thinning of the class A seed stands, leaving 400 trees per há and making annual applications per tree of 500 g of urea and 500 g of triple superphosphate on the Guane soils; and 1500 g of 15-20-10 on the Nipe and Savanna soils.
