Se obtuvieron muestras al azar procedentes de la localidad de El Rosario, en Viñales, provincia de Pinar del Río. Se cortaron rodajas procedentes de la base, centro y extremo menor, calculándose excentricidad, elepticidad y conicidad. Se determinó la densidad de la madera al 12 % con probetas elaboradas de cada una de las partes. Los estudios reflejaron que la excentricidad con 12,5 años tuvo un valor de 7,66 %, y 14,5 de 7,31 %, mientras que la elepticidad arrojó 18,31 % para la primera y 15,9 % para la segunda. La conicidad promedió 3,16 cm/m y la densidad de la especie fue de 0,455 g/cm3, concluyéndose que el cedro en las condiciones de sitio de Viñales está apto para su transformación en objetivos industriales. The objective of this work is to determine the morphological characteristics and the density of the Cedrela odorata L. wood in plantations with ages of 12.5 and 14.5 years respectively. Random samples were obtained from the town of El Rosario, in Viñales, Province of Pinar del Río. Slices were cut from the base, center and small end, calculating eccentricity, elepticity and taper. The density of the wood was determined at 12 % with samples made from each of the parts. The studies showed that the eccentricity with 12.5 years had a value of 7.66 %, and 14.5 of 7.31 %, while the elepticity showed 18.31 % for the first and 15.9 % for the second. The taper averaged 3.16 cm/m and the density of the species was 0.455 g/cm3, concluding that the cedar under the conditions of the vineyard is suitable for its transformation into industrial purposes.
