El objetivo es evaluar la disponibilidad de biomasa forestal como sustituto del fuel oil. La determinación del potencial de biomasa forestal se evaluó según la metodología de Espinosa. Se dispone de 456,3 (Mm3) de biomasa forestal disponible hasta 2015, que producirá 5 163 490, 8 GJ para producir energía y 1 434 303,0 MWh de electricidad. El total de energía que podría ser originada por la biomasa forestal disponible de las especies de pino y eucalipto es de 15 222 738,8 GJ y 4 228 538,6 MWh/año respectivamente. Las biomasas evaluadas de pino y eucalipto pueden sustituir 200 564,4 t de fuel oil, mientras que la disponible en general 19 747,0 t. Cuba has in the biomasses the purpose of increasing the employment of the renewable sources of energy; in particular the forest biomasses require an evaluation of the potentialities with which it counts our country. The objective is to evaluate the readiness of forest biomass as substitute of the fuel oil. The determination of the potential of forest biomass is calculated according to Espinosa’s methodology. It has 456, 3 (Mm3) of available forest biomass up to the 2015 that it will produce 5 163 490.8 GJ to produce energy and 1 434 303.0 MWh of electricity. The energy total that could be originated by the available forest biomass of the pine species and eucalyptus is of 15 222 738.8 GJ and 4 228 538.6 MWh / year respectively. The evaluated biomasses of pine and eucalyptus can substitute 200 564.4 t of fuel-oil while, the available one in general 19 747.0 t.
