Esta situación constituye uno de los factores limitante para el establecimiento de algunas especies forestales. El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo mostrar la experiencia de la aplicación Análisis de Componentes Principales Categóricos (CATPCA), en la técnica de Forestería Análoga. Se empleó el Escalamiento Óptimo, para reducir la información a la menor dimensión posible y el Análisis de Componentes Principales Categóricos para seleccionar las variables categóricas que constituyen las especies promisorias para la rehabilitación de suelos salinizados en 14 Fincas Forestales Integrales del Valle de Guantánamo. Con la utilización del método estadístico se definieron como Compontes Principales Categóricos, tolerancia a la sal, la zona, el efecto de la raíz, al tipo de raíz y ritmo de crecimiento. The objective of this paper is to show the experience of the Categorical Principal Component Analysis (CATPCA) application, in the Analog Forestry technique. Optimum Scaling was used to reduce the information to the smallest possible dimension and Principal Categorical Components Analysis was used to select the categorical variables that constitute the promising species for the rehabilitation of salinized soils in 14 Integral Forest Farms of the Guantánamo Valley. With the use of the statistical method, the Main Categorical Components were defined as tolerance to salt, the zone, the effect of the root, the type of root and the growth rate.
