Las modalidades de Sistemas Agroforestales seleccionadas para este trabajo (Cortinas Rompimientos, Cercas Vivas Arboles en Linderos) y Fajas Forestales Hidrorreguladora han sido propuestas en 26 iniciativas del proyecto PROSAM (Producción Sostenibles Acelerada de Alimentos en cinco municipios: Artemisa, Bejucal, Guanabacoa, Guiñes y Madruga. Estas se implementan con la finalidad de proteger las infraestructuras constructivas (casas de posturas, semiprotegidos y mini-industrias) de los vientos predominantes y minimizar los daños mecánicos que estos producen a los cultivos. La presencia y selección de estos tipos de estructuras arbóreas permiten conservar la humedad de los suelos en las áreas productivas, modificar positivamente el microclima del sitio reduciendo la temperatura y aumentando la humedad del aire, se logra incrementar la infiltración de la lluvia y el mejoramiento se la calidad de las aguas para el riego.  Agroforestry Systems are a set of land management techniques, which consist of the combination of agricultural, livestock and forestry production. The Agroforestry Systems modalities selected for this work (Breaking Curtains, Living Fences, Trees on Borders) and Hydro regulating Forest Belts have been proposed in 26 initiatives of the PROSAM project (Accelerated Sustainable Food Production in five municipalities: Artemisa, Bejucal, Guanabacoa, Guiñes and Madruga. These they are implemented in order to protect construction infrastructures (posture houses, semi-protected and mini-industries) from the prevailing winds and minimize the mechanical damage that these produces to crops.
