Lahera-Fernández, Wilden improves genetics Pinus cubensis variability mejora genética Pinus cubensis variabilidad En el marco del programa de mejora genética de Pinus cubensis Griseb, iniciado en Santiago de Cuba, Holguín y Guantánamo a partir de 1970, una vez seleccionada la población de mejora se estableció el banco clonal, plantándose cinco pruebas de progenies de polinización abierta en años consecutivos desde 1977 hasta 1981, y la última en 1986; El objetivo de la investigación consistió en estimar en edades comprendidas entre 13 y 22 años las heredabilidades alcanzadas en sentido amplio, estricto e individual, así como los coeficientes de variación genética aditiva y de variación fenotípica en los seis ensayos de progenies. Los resultados mostraron un control genético relativamente fuerte para los caracteres de crecimiento evaluados (altura total, diámetro a 1,30 m y volumen total con corteza), existiendo además una marcada variabilidad en la población base, lo que manifiesta a esa edad y en las condiciones ambientales ensayadas la posibilidad de desarrollar mejora por selección. The results showed a relatively high genetic control for the evaluated characters of growth (total height, diameter to 1,30 m and total volume with bark), also existing a marked variability in the population bases, what would allow to this age to develop the improvement for selection.
