Características reproductivas y primeros estadios de plántulas de ratán (Calamus tetradactylus Hance) en las condiciones de Topes de Collantes, Sancti Spíritus, Cuba Reproductive characteristic and first stadiums of sedlings of rattán (Calamus tetradactylus Hance) under the conditions of Topes de Collantes, Sancti Spíritus, Cuba León-Acosta, Jorge Álvarez-González, Miguel Betancourt-Riquelme, Miguel Calamus tetradactylus Hance reproductive characteristic Seedlings Cuba Calamus tetradactylus Hance características reproductivas desarrollo de plántulas Cuba Se realizaron observaciones con el objetivo de conocer las características reproductivas y primeros estadios de plántulas de Calamus tetradactylus Hance. Se siguió el método de la organización Danida Forest Seed Centre. La primera floración se observó a cuatro años de plantada la especie con un desarrollo de los frutos entre marzo y junio. El diámetro de los frutos y semillas mostró valores medios de 9,067 mm y 6,93 mm, respectivamente. La cantidad de frutos por kilogramo fue de 2405, y la cantidad de semillas por kilogramo de 5494. Se alzanzó un 86,9 % de germinación de las semillas a los 66 días de sembradas. Se obtuvo una media para la altura de las plántulas de 2,24 cm, y para la longitud de las raíces de 3,08 cm. La especie mostró, en las etapas iniciales de su desarrollo, buenas posibilidades adaptativas a las condiciones de Topes de Collantes. It´s offer the results of some of the first carried out observations in Cuba to the characteristic reproductive y first stages of seedlings of the Calamus tetradactylus Hance specie under the conditions of Topes of Collantes, Municipality of Trinidad in Sancti Spíritus province. The importance of the species is explained like raw material in the market of the factory, basketwork and furniture in Cuba and in the Asian Southeast. The observations were carried out and registered following the general methods for the conduction of this experiment type, obtaining similar results to those reported by other authors about these characters under the conditions of their natural habitat. The obtained results show positive aspects as for the adaptability from the species to the conditions of the mentioned place.
