Restauración de áreas degradadas de la comunidad Los Cerezos, en la franja costera sur de Guantánamo, Cuba Restoration of degraded areas of the Cherry Trees community in the south coastal fringe of Guantánamo, Cuba Fernández-Betancourt, Illovis Limeres-Jiménez, Teudy Blanco-Imbert, Albaro Cintra-Arencibia, Marianela Plutín-Simón, Indira Pineda-Labañino, Antonio guayacán broken fragments forest deforestation restoration semiarid climate guayacán bosque fragmentado deforestación restauración clima semiárido Con el objetivo de restaurar áreas degradadas en la comunidad Los Cerezos, del municipio de Imías, ubicado en la franja costera sur de la provincia de Guantánamo, se desarrolló el siguiente trabajo durante enero de 2009 y octubre de 2011. Se seleccionó un área deforestada y un bosque fragmentado perteneciente a la UBPC Eliomar Noa a partir del inventario e identificación de las especies presente en el bosque y se calculó la abundancia relativa. En ambas áreas se determinó el grado de conservación de la cubierta vegetal y efectuaron enriquecimientos en grupos con diferentes especies. Los resultados indican que el bosque fragmentado se encuentra poco conservado, en el cual predominan árboles y arbustos xerofíticos, con Guaiacum officinalis L. y Leucaena leucocephala (Lam.) de Wit. como especies más abundantes. En el área deforestada catalogada como no conservado, se logra una mayor supervivencia de las posturas de Guaiacum officinalis L. Se realizaron acciones de educación ambiental con niños y pobladores de la comunidad. With the objective of restoring degraded areas in Los Cerezos community, of Imías municipality, located in the South coastal fringe of Guantánamo city was develop the following work, during January 2009 to October 2011. It was selected a deforestd area and a broken fragments forest belonging to UBPC Eliomar Noa. They were inventoried and identified the present species in the forest and in was calculated the relative abundance. In both areas the degree of conservation of the vegetable cover was determined and they made enrichments in groups, with different species. The results show that the broken fragments forest is little conserved, in which trees and xerofíticos shrub prevail, with Guaiacum officinalis L. and Leucaena leucocephala (Lam) de Wit, like more abundant species. In the deforestada area classified as not conserved, are achieved a bigger survival of the postures Guaiacum officinalis L. They were carried out actions of environmental education with children and people of the community.
