Remoción de carbono por el patrimonio forestal cubano: la Empresa Forestal Integral Ciego de Ávila Carbon removed from cuban forestry patrimony: Forestry Enterprise Ciego de Ávila Mercadet-Portillo, Alicia Álvarez-Brito, Arnaldo F. Rosales-Ordoñez, Eusebio Rivera-Pelegrín, Yodelvis forest retention carbon base line mitigation bosques retención carbono línea base Partiendo de la composición y existencias en el patrimonio de la Empresa Forestal Integral (EFI) Ciego de Ávila en 2002 y 2011, se analiza cómo repercutieron las variaciones registradas entre ambas fechas sobre la retención media de carbono, y asumiendo como escenario business as usual su gestión técnica en 2011, se estiman los cambios esperables dentro de diez años. Mientras en 2002 la empresa retenía como promedio 203,0 tC/ha, en 2011 aumentó a 207,7 tC/ha, con una ganancia superior a 311 MtC, que comercializadas a 2 USD/tC representarían ingresos por más de medio millón de dólares. La proyección para 2021 reflejó una disminución de sus bosques naturales, compensada y superada por las plantaciones establecidas, a la par que aumentaron las plantaciones en desarrollo, con una disminución de las áreas por reforestar y un aumento de la biomasa en los bosques existentes desde 2011, alcanzando una retención media de carbono de 335,6 tC/ha. Leaving from the composition and existences in the patrimony of the Ciego de Ávila Integral Forest Company in 2002 and 2011, it is analyzed how the variations registered among both dates rebounded on the mean retention of carbon and, assuming as business as usual scenario their technical administration in 2011, the expected changes at the end of the next 10 years are considered. While in 2002 the Company retained an average of 203,0 tC/ha, in 2011 it increased to 207,7 tC/ha, with a superior gain to 311 MtC which marketed at 2 USD/tC they would represent revenues for more than half million of dollars. The projection for 2021 reflected a decrease of its natural forest, compensated and overcome by the established plantations, at the same time that the plantations in development increased, with a decrease of the areas to reforest and an increase of the biomass in the existent forests from the 2011, reaching a mean carbon retention of 335,6 tC/ha.
