<dc:description xml:lang="en">Natural regeneration of the equatorial tropical dried forest in Loja with its three groups was studied to generate basic information for fur the management. To collect the regeneration data were established 100 plots of 10 x 10 m and calculated the importance value index of regeneration. 21 woody species on 19 genera and 13 families were naturally generating, corresponding to groups-I, II and III of nine, 19 and 11 respectively. The species with higher importance value index were Caesalpinia glabrata, Acacia macracantha, Tabebuia chrysantha, Geoffroea spinosa and Cordia lutea, some of them typically in a secondary forest, while the species from native dry forest like Ceiba trichistandra, Simira ecuadorensis, Terminalia valverdeae and Eriotheca ruizii shown little regeneration. How ever, their presence seems sufficient to recover the exploited individuals and maintain forest structure.</dc:description>
