En Placetas se realizó un estudio sobre la propagación de Trichanthera gigantea para obtener la dimensión más adecuada del diámetro de la estaca y conocer cómo influye el uso del cobertor en la propagación de la especie en vivero. Los tratamientos estudiados fueron seis. Las estacas fueron plantadas en bolsas de polietileno con el 70 % de suelo y el 30 % de materia orgánica. Se utilizó un diseño completamente al azar con arreglo bifactorial (3 x 2). Las variables estudiadas fueron porciento de supervivencia, número de brotes, emisión de la primera hoja, número y longitud de las hojas. Se obtuvieron los mejores resultados en los tratamientos 1, 3, 4 y 6, y la condición de penumbra presentó la mejor respuesta morfoestructural para las variables estudiadas en los diferentes diámetros de estacas de Trichanthera gigantea.  The study and inclusion of multipurpose tree species under the conditions of our country is a challenge for researchers and producers. In Placetas a study on the spread of Trichanthera gigantea to get the dimension appropriate of the diameter of the stake and know how to influence the cover, the propagation of the species in the nursery. The studied treatments were six. Cuttings were planted in polyethylene bags containing 70 % soil and 30 % organic matter. We used a completely randomized design according bifactorial (3 x 2). The variables studied were percent survival, number of shoots, issuance of the first leaf, number and length of the leaves, the best results were obtained in the treatments 1, 3, 4 and 6 and the condition of darkness presented the best answer for the studied variables, in the different diameters of stakes of Trichanthera gigantea.
