Caracterización y alternativas de uso de la especie Dichrostachys cinerea (L.) Wight et Arm. Wigth et Arm. (marabú) basado en la metodología de los atributos funcionales de la especie, con el objetivo de formular un manejo agroecológico de ella. Los valores de las propiedades físico-mecánicas indican que la madera de marabú es apta para ser utilizada en la construcción, y dadas sus características organolépticas puede ser empleada en artículos artesanales, tanto utilitarios como ornamentales. Se considera una madera no durable, pero con tratamiento químico puede ser utilizada en exteriores en contacto con el suelo. Resultó favorable la compatibilidad con el cemento Portland después de lavada, lo que posibilita su uso en tableros mineralizados. La composición química corrobora sus excelentes cualidades energéticas, proveyendo un carbón vegetal de buena calidad comparable con los de yana y casuarina. It is carried out a valuation of the properties and characteristics of the species Dichrostachys cinerea (L.) Wigth et Arm. (marabú) based on the methodology of the functional attributes of the species, with the objective of formulating a handling agro ecological of the same one. The values of the physique-mechanics properties indicate that the marabú wood is capable to be used in the construction and given their organoleptic characteristics can be employees in handmade articles, so much utilitarian as ornamental. It is considered to non durable wood, but with chemical treatment it dog be used in external in contact with the floor. I was suitable with the Portland cement after having washed, which also facilitates their uses in mineralized boards. The chemical composition corroborates its excellent energy qualities, providing a charcoal of good quality comparable with those of yana and casuarinas species.
