Evaluación de especies forestales en sistema silvopastoril en la precordillera norte de la Sierra Maestra Evaluation of forest species in silvopastoril system in the north pre-montain of the Sierra Maestra Revés-Leonard, Félix de B. Arévalo-Guevara, Víctor Rosales-Rodríguez, Marcial Calzadilla-Zaldívar, Efraín Renda-Sayoux, Arsenio Mercadet-Portillo, Alicia Swietenia Khaya Panicum Pelibuey species Swietenia Khaya Panicum Pelibuey especies Durante el período 1977-2008 se evalúa la respuesta de un componente forestal compuesto por tres especies: Swietenia macrophylla King, Khaya nyasica Stapf. y Khaya senegalensis (Desr.) Juss., establecidas como prueba de especies y convertidas a los cuatro años de edad en áreas destinadas al silvopastoreo con ganado ovino, raza criolla Pelibuey. La parcela abarca una superficie de 2,6 ha, sustentada sobre suelo pardo con carbonato, altitud de 230 msnm y pendiente del 24 %. Transcurridos treinta y un años de edad de la plantación, aún el bosque sustenta vegetación herbácea y arbustiva en el sotobosque, constituida por varias especies, entre ellas Panicum maximum Jacq. La evaluación de diámetro y altura de la plantación muestra incrementos satisfactorios en las dos especies de Khaya y algo inferior en Swietenia macrophylla. La abundante presencia de pastos muestra potencialidades para la continuidad del sistema silvopastoril, con ganado ovino bajo pastoreo controlado, evidenciando su  sostenibilidad durante el período evaluado. During the period 1977-2008, the answer of a forest component is evaluated composed by three species: Swietenia macrophylla King, Khaya nyasica Stapf. and Khaya senegalensis (Desr.) Juss., established as test of species and transformed to the four years of age into areas dedicated to the silvopastoreo with won ovino, Creole race «Pelibuey». The parcel it occupies a surface of 2,6 ha, sustained on Brown floor with Carbonate, altitude of 230 msnm and inclination of 24 %. Lapsed 31 years of age of the plantation, the forest still sustains herbaceous vegetation and bush under the forest, constituted by several species, among them: Panicum maximum Jacq. The diameter evaluation and height of the plantation shows satisfactory increments in the two species of Khaya, sp. and something inferior in the Swietenia macrophylla. The abundant presence of grasses shows potentialities for the continuity of the system silvopastoril with having won ovino low controlled shepherding, evidencing their stability during the evaluated period.
