Pinus caribaea intercellular canals yields resins growth rings Pinus caribaea canal intercelular rendimiento resina anillo de crecimiento El estudio de los canales resiníferos tiene importancia por ser la estructura en los pinos que producen y almacenan la resina. Existen canales horizontales y verticales que se intercomunican formando una red a lo largo de todo el fuste. Son los canales verticales los de mayor longitud y objeto de la investigación, realizada en los pinares naturales de Cajálbana, municipio de La Palma, provincia de Pinar del Río. De acuerdo con la especie, la altura en el fuste a la que se encuentran y el ancho de los anillos de crecimiento varía su diámetro y número, lo que influye en el movimiento de la resina en el canal, en el volumen de almacenamiento y en la fluidez cuando se realizan las picas, y como consecuencia de todo ello en los rendimientos. Se determinó además el número de canales en los anillos de crecimiento y la densidad por centímetro cuadrado. Tales valores ubican a la especie entre las de mayor potencial atendiendo a los rendimientos de resina. The study of the resin channels keep importance for being the structures in the pines, which produce and store the resin. It exist horizontal and vertical channels which intercommunicate forming a net along the whole shaft, being the vertical channels those of more longitude and object of the investigation, which was carried out in the natural pine groves of Cajálbana, municipality of La Palma, province of Pinar del Río. According to the species, the height in the shaft where they are and the width of the growth rings varies its diameter and number, what influences in the movement of the resin in the channel, in the storage volume and in the fluency when pikes are carried out, and as consequence of all before, the yields varies to.  The numbers of channels were also determined in the growth rings and the density by square centimeter. These values locate the species among those of more potential according to they yields of resin.
