Una de estas son las quemas prescritas, que aunque en Cuba hay muy pocos antecedentes sobre el tema, esta práctica se implementa en varios países, como una herramienta de apoyo a sus planes de manejo integral forestal, por lo que la implementación de las quemas prescritas en Cuba se le debe prestar atención para conocer sus efectos a mediano y largo plazo. En consecuencia se analiza el efecto de quemas prescritas y su influencia en los materiales combustibles existentes en bosques de pino, sustentados en la subcuenca hidrográfica I, asociada al río San Diego, en Galalón, obteniéndose que la puesta en práctica de quemas prescritas permiten reducir la carga del material combustible.
