Etnobotánica de la cuenca hidrográfica del Río Puercos Etnobotanical study of Río Puerco’s watershed Suárez-Sarría, Juana Teresa O'Farrill-Colebrook, Abilio León-Coro, Juan José Montalvo-Guerrero, Juan Miguel Bravo-Iglesias, José Antonio ethnobotany watersheds etnobotánica cuencas hidrográficas Como elemento que contribuye al conocimiento de la cuenca hidrográfica del río Puercos, del municipio de La Palma, en la provincia de Pinar del Río, se procedió al estudio etnobotánico de su sección media y baja, área donde se concentra su población. El objetivo del estudio es la constatación del conocimiento que de las especies vegetales, así como de sus propiedades y uso, tienen los habitantes de la cuenca. Se encuestaron 97 pobladores del centro urbano y de viviendas aisladas, de ambos sexos, variadas ocupaciones, edades y nivel cultural. Se relacionaron 62 especies y variadas categorías antropocéntricas. As an element that contributes to the know ledge of Rio Puerco´s watershed in La Palma Municipality at Pinar del Rio Province; we have carried out the etnobotanical study of the middle and bass part of it where is concentrated the major population community. The main objectives of this study are to emphasize the knowledge of the watershed‘s inhabitants about the vegetable species Its utilization as green medicine and others usages taking into account the different properties of them. This area is integrated by a little town and some isolated houses. The used methodology was the open interview and the survey was realized to a total of 97 peoples of both sexes, different occupations, ages and cultural levels. In this study we take into account 62 species and different anthropocentric categories.
