Nueva experiencia en la restauración de manglares, playa Las Canas, La Coloma Baigorría Montero, Daniel Rodríguez Crespo, Greicy Domínguez Junco, Osvaldo Milián Cabrera, Iluminada restoration reforestation mangrove ecosystem restauración reforestación ecosistema manglar Por lo interesante del hecho, traemos a este artículo los primeros resultados de una investigación que aún se encuentra en fase experimental. Se trata de la restauración de una extensa franja de manglar perdido, desde playa Las Canas hasta la desembocadura del río Guamá, en La Coloma, sur de Pinar del Río, que cubre aproximadamente 10 ha, debido en lo fundamental a la ocurrencia de eventos meteorológicos fuertes (tormentas ciclónicas) que azotaron la zona en el 2002 (Isidoro y Lili) y en el 2004 (Iván). Para su restauración se concibió una metodología que incluye la reforestación en zonas de la franja degradada que han sido naturalmente invadidas por la especie Batis maritima o verdolaga de costa, la cual ha permitido mejorar las condiciones edáficas en cuanto a contenido de humedad y disminución del exceso de salinidad, lo que ha favorecido el establecimiento de una reforestación realizada a partir de un vivero rústico comunitario construido cerca del lugar con las especies predominantes en el sitio: Avicennia germinans, en mayor medida por tratarse de una cuenca, y Laguncularia racemosa para donde se eleve el sustrato. This article reveals the results of a research which is still in to experimental stage. It is about the restoration of a large strip of the mangrove; from Las Canas beach to the Guamá river mouth, located in the southern part of the island in La Coloma neighbourhood, which has on extension of about 10 ha; due to the strong storms provoked by the hurricanes Isidore and Lily (2002) and Ivan (2004). A methodology was concerned for the restoration which includes the reforestation of the affected areas invaded by the Batis maritima specie. This has allowed the bettering the soil conditions in reference to the content of humidity and the decreasing of over salinity, this has favoured the establishment of a reforestation, which had been done from a communitarian rustic nursery, it was built near to the place, where the predominate species were: Avicennia germinans, in a greater extent because it is an hydrographical land, and a Laguncularia racemosa, were the substrate growths increases.
