	<dc:description xml:lang="es">El presente trabajo &amp;nbsp;caracteriza los &amp;nbsp;hábitos alimentarios de &amp;nbsp;la jutía &amp;nbsp;conga &amp;nbsp;(Capromys piloridesJ &amp;nbsp;en cuanto a las especies de árboles y arbustos consumidos y su selectividad. &amp;nbsp;Las observaciones fueron realizadas en cuatro formaciones vegetales de la Reserva de la Biosfera Península de &amp;nbsp;Guanahacabibes &amp;nbsp;(bosque &amp;nbsp;semideciduo, bosque de ciénaga, &amp;nbsp;vegetación de costa arenosa y xeromorfo &amp;nbsp;costero). &amp;nbsp;El grado &amp;nbsp;de afectación de la vegetaciónfue valorado en 1 75 parcelas de O, 04 ha en las diferentesformaciones estudiadas (75 en el semideciduo, &amp;nbsp;50 en la de ciénaga y 25 en la vegetación de costa arenosa y &amp;nbsp;el xeromorfo costero respectivamente). El &amp;nbsp;grado &amp;nbsp;de selectividad (S¡) &amp;nbsp;se &amp;nbsp;midió por un índice que tiene en cuenta &amp;nbsp;la abundancia de la especie &amp;nbsp;en &amp;nbsp;el ambiente. &amp;nbsp;En &amp;nbsp;el bosque semideciduo&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;la &amp;nbsp;especie más &amp;nbsp;sobreexplotada fue Oxandra&amp;nbsp; lanceolada &amp;nbsp;(S, &amp;nbsp;= &amp;nbsp;0,22608), &amp;nbsp;en el de ciénaga fue Thrinax &amp;nbsp;radiata (S,&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;= &amp;nbsp;0,32053). En el de vegetación de costa arenosa la mayor sobreexplotaciori &amp;nbsp;fue&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;de&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;Gerascanthus gerascantoide &amp;nbsp;(S, &amp;nbsp;= &amp;nbsp;0,51609). &amp;nbsp;En laformación de xerófilo &amp;nbsp;costero la jutía sobreexplotó una sola &amp;nbsp;especie -Gerascanthus &amp;nbsp;gerascantoide (S. &amp;nbsp;= &amp;nbsp;0,86106)-, &amp;nbsp;que resultó &amp;nbsp;ser la&amp;nbsp; más sobreexplotada de&amp;nbsp; las cuarenta &amp;nbsp;especies registradas &amp;nbsp;en las cuatro formaciones vegetales. Las&amp;nbsp; especies sobreexplotadas se &amp;nbsp;seleccionaron en grados muy desiguales. Se concluye que la jutia conga es un herbívoro oportunista, que utiliza diferentes estrategias,&amp;nbsp; en dependencia de la especie de árbol y su abundancia</dc:description>
	<dc:description xml:lang="en">The present work &amp;nbsp;characterizes trie feeding habits of the Jutía Conga (Capromys pilorides) for the species of trees and bushes consumed and &amp;nbsp;its &amp;nbsp;selectivity.&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;The &amp;nbsp;observations &amp;nbsp;uiere carried out in four vegetable formations of the Reservation &amp;nbsp;of the &amp;nbsp;Biosphere &amp;nbsp;Península of Guanahacabibes (semideciduousforest, marsh forest, vegetation ofsandy coast and xeromorfic coastal forest). &amp;nbsp;The degree &amp;nbsp;of affectation of the vegetation was &amp;nbsp;ualued in 1 75 plots of O, 04 ha there is (75 in semideciduous forest, &amp;nbsp;50 in the marshforest and 25 in the sandy coast and in xeromorfic &amp;nbsp;coastal forest &amp;nbsp;respective/y). &amp;nbsp;The selectivity degree &amp;nbsp;(S¡)&amp;nbsp; it &amp;nbsp;was &amp;nbsp;measured by an index that keeps &amp;nbsp;in mind the abundance ofthe species &amp;nbsp;in the environment. &amp;nbsp;In semideciduous forest the species overexploited was &amp;nbsp;Oxandra lanceolada /S, = &amp;nbsp;0,22608), &amp;nbsp;in the forest marshit was &amp;nbsp;Thrinax radiata &amp;nbsp;(S, &amp;nbsp;= &amp;nbsp;0,32053).&amp;nbsp; In the vegetation of sandy &amp;nbsp;coast the biggest overexploited was &amp;nbsp;Gerascanthus gerascantoide &amp;nbsp;(S, &amp;nbsp;= &amp;nbsp;O, 051609). &amp;nbsp;In &amp;nbsp;the formation &amp;nbsp;of xeromorphic coastal Jorest &amp;nbsp;the jutía overexploited &amp;nbsp;the species &amp;nbsp;Gerascanthus gerascantoide /S, = 0,086106), which the most overexploited of the forty species registered &amp;nbsp;in the [our &amp;nbsp;vegetable formations. &amp;nbsp;The&amp;nbsp; species overexploited uiere selected&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; in very &amp;nbsp;unequal degrees. &amp;nbsp;It is concludes &amp;nbsp;that the jutia conga is a herbiuore &amp;nbsp;opportunist that&amp;nbsp; uses different foruging behavior depending ofthe tree species and&amp;nbsp; its abundance.</dc:description>
