La problemática radica en el éxodo rural juvenil y la limitada participación de jóvenes y mujeres en actividades agrícolas debido a condiciones laborales desfavorables. Este trabajo tuvo como objetivo evaluar la participación de estos grupos en el proyecto IRES, que abarca siete municipios cubanos afectados por el cambio climático. Se realizó un diagnóstico de campo para identificar 35 000 ha aptas para la implementación de módulos agroforestales y silvopastoriles. Se promovió la capacitación mediante 18 aulas-escuelas y 169 acciones formativas en 2023, que involucró a 1 885 personas, de las cuales el 37 % fueron mujeres y el 28 % jóvenes menores de 35 años. Las intervenciones incluyen la eliminación de especies invasoras como el marabú, el uso de especies autóctonas resistentes a la sequía y la integración de energías renovables en sistemas agrícolas. Entre los resultados destaca la identificación de 1 027 sitios de intervención y el empoderamiento de mujeres y jóvenes en roles clave, como operarios de maquinaria y jefes de finca. Hasta 2023, el proyecto benefició directamente a 8 293 personas, con un 44 % de jóvenes, y de manera indirecta a 68 651 personas. Se concluye que la inclusión de jóvenes y mujeres es esencial para fortalecer la seguridad alimentaria y la resiliencia climática en Cuba. El monitoreo continuo permite evaluar los avances y garantizar el éxito del proyecto. The IRES Project in Cuba addresses the challenges of rural youth and the role of women in agricultural transformation towards climate resilience. The problem lies in the rural exodus of youth and the limited participation of young people and women in agricultural activities due to unfavorable working conditions. This work aimed to evaluate the participation of these groups in the IRES project, which covers seven Cuban municipalities affected by climate change. A field diagnosis was carried out to identify 35,000 ha suitable for the implementation of agroforestry and silvopastoral modules. Training was promoted through 18 classrooms-schools and 169 training actions in 2023, involving 1 885 people, of which 37% were women and 28% young people under 35 years of age. Interventions include the elimination of invasive species such as marabú, the use of native drought-resistant species and the integration of renewable energies in agricultural systems. The results include the identification of 1 027 intervention sites and the empowerment of women and young people in key roles, such as machinery operators and farm managers. By 2023, the project has directly benefited 8 293 people, 44% of whom are young people, and indirectly 68 651 people. It is concluded that the inclusion of young people and women is essential to strengthening food security and climate resilience in Cuba. Continuous monitoring allows progress to be assessed and the success of the project to be guaranteed.
