<dc:description xml:lang="en">The remediation of salinized soils is crucial to address desertification and agricultural productivity loss, especially in arid regions such as the Guantánamo Valley, Cuba. This study evaluated the effectiveness of Analog Forestry (AF) in rehabilitating salinity-affected soils, with the aim of restoring their ecological and productive functionality. Fourteen farms (351 ha) with Dark Plastic Gleyzose soils were studied, classified into four zones based on salinity (from >2007 ppm to non-saline). Demonstration plots were planted with salt-tolerant species (e.g., Prosopis juliflora, Azadirachta indica) and adapted management techniques, such as organic enrichment and controlled irrigation. The results showed a significant reduction in salinity and pH (from 8.4–8.8 to less alkaline levels) after five years, along with an increase in vegetation cover and biodiversity. Statistical analysis (CATPCA, α = 0.89) confirmed that species with deep roots and high salt tolerance were the most effective. It was concluded that AF is a viable strategy for rehabilitating saline soils, combining ecological and socioeconomic benefits through community participation and the use of multifunctional species.</dc:description>
