<dc:description xml:lang="en">The implementation of windbreaks is essential for crop protection and agroforestry sustainability in regions exposed to intense winds. This study evaluated the wood production and performance of forest and fruit species established in a windbreak in Bayamo, Granma, Cuba. Species such as Cordia gerascanthus, Swietenia mahagoni (West Indian mahogany), and Tamarindus indica (tamarind) were analyzed, measuring diameters, heights, and timber production using dasometric methods. The results showed that Cordia gerascanthus achieved average annual increases of 8.5 m³/ha/year, with a total production of 442 m³/ha over 52 years, while West Indian mahogany presented diameters of up to 0.41 m and heights exceeding 16 m. Tamarind demonstrated good morpho-agronomic performance, although its fruit production is not efficiently utilized. In contrast, shade-grown Arabica coffee showed low survival (35%), associated with inadequate agroecological conditions. It was concluded that the forest species evaluated contribute significantly to timber production and wind protection, but the management of fruit species needs to be optimized to maximize their benefits.</dc:description>
