Abstract
Se exponen las investigaciones efectuadas y la metodología seguida para la determinación del ancho de la faja de protección forestal a las márgenes del río San Diego. Para ello se comienza con el reconocimiento de la cuenca vertedora al río cuyas márgenes nos proponemos proteger; se señalan los estudios realizados para conocer las características del mismo y los factores que influyen en la formación del escurrimiento superficial y su relación con la erosión hídrica; se analizan los resultados obtenidos en las parcelas experimentales no permanentes establecidas en zonas aledañas a las riberas del río. Se finaliza el trabajo proponiendo una fórmula para determinar el ancho de la faja de protección forestal que se aplica al estudio realizado.
