Efecto de la sombra en el cultivo de Eucalyptus saligna en vivero

Abstract
La necesidad de determinar el tipo de sombra que más se adecua para el cultivo de especies exóticas de crecimiento rápido como el Eucalyptus saligna Smith, condujo al Centro de Investigación Forestal (CIF) a desarrollar un trabajo de investigación en los viveros experimentales de Camaguey y Purnio. Para ello se utilizó un diseño de bloques al azar, con tres réplicas y cinco tratamientos. Se probó la eficacia de cuatro coberturas guano, tela de mosquitero, parrillas de madera y sacos de yute. Los parámetros estudiados fueron: porcentaje de envases en que germinaron semillas y porcentaje de envases con posturas al finalizar la fase de vivero. Los datos registrados fueron procesados estadísticamente y se obtuvieron resultados altamente satisfactorios, con lo cual fueron cumplidos a cabalidad los objetivos propuestos. Se recomienda el uso de umbráculos de tela de mosquitero para aquellos viveros forestales dedicados al cultivo de eucaliptos, por brindar ésta mejores condiciones de luz, aireación y posibilitar la realización de las labores culturales sin dificultad.
