Presencia de Dioryctria horneana (Lepidóptera: Phycitidae) sobre árboles en proceso de resinación

Abstract
Dioryctria horneana (Dyar), se conoce sólo en Cuba, de donde se informa con carácter crónico, tanto en la parte occidental como oriental de la Isla, en plantaciones de pinos. Sus larvas atacan conos, brotes, ramas y líber de los troncos de Pinus caribaea var. caribaea Morelet, Pinus tropicalis Morelet y Pinus cubensis Griseb, de 3-12 años de edad. En evaluaciones realizadas sobre árboles sometidos a la práctica de resinación en vida, se constató que estas condiciones propician el ataque de la plaga mencionada sobre la cara de resinación. Este aspecto, conjuntamente con el hecho de que se trata de árboles con 30 años de edad promedio, hace que éste constituya un nuevo problema entomológico, no tratado previamente por la literatura sobre la plaga. En este trabajo se evalúa y caracteriza el ataque en las zonas de investigación, durante los años 1981, 1982 y 1983, atendiendo a diferentes elementos de la técnica de resinación y se dan recomendaciones preliminares para la prevención de la plaga; se logró una disminución en la intensidad del ataque de un 81 a un 23% y se evaluaron como efectivos los logros obtenidos.
