Estudio del establecimiento de plantaciones experimentales de especies forestales en un suelo salino del Valle de Guantánamo

Abstract
En el presente trabajo se brindan los primeros resultados obtenidos en la reforestación de áreas fuertemente salinizadas del valle de Guantánamo. La metodología empleada consistió en el tratamiento pregerminativo de las semillas de las especies seleccionadas, su siembra y el desarrollo en la fase de vivero durante seis meses y su posterior plantación utilizando hoyos de plantación con marco de 1,5 m x 1,5 m. La investigación realizada demostró que las especies Lysiloma bahamensis, Leucaena leucocephala, Albizia lebbek y Guaicacum officinalis son altamente promisorias para la reforestación de esta zona, razón por lo cual se recomienda su manejo en estas áreas hasta tanto se prueben otras especies. Sobre la base de los resultados obtenidos se ofrecen datos acerca de la sobrevivencia y desarrollo de las plantaciones citadas, así como las recomendaciones indicadas sobre el riego, preparación del sitio, uso de mejoradores del suelo y utilización de bacterias fijadoras de nitrógeno para mejorar el método de reforestación.
