Development dynamics of Phytophthora palmivora on Theobroma cacao crop
Main Article Content
Abstract
Between february 1987 and february 1989 a trial about the development dynamics of Phytophthora palmivora on Theobroma cacao crop was carried out at Baracoa, Guantánamo, province, aimed to knowing the effect of some climatic factors such as: temeprature relative humidity and rainfall on the development of cocoa black pod disease. Two ripening periods were taken into account (spring harvest) and winter harvest. The were selected 20 plants at random on which five fruits of the sterm and the principal branches were weekly evaluated. The linear and direct correlation between the climatic factors and the infection and distribution percentage of diseases was determined. The greatest infection degree in each stage occured during the rainy season, relative humidity over 95% and temperatura between 16 and 32,7ºC.
