Abstract
La Revista Forestal Baracoa dedica este número a reconocer el quehacer científico-técnico de la Estación Agro-Forestal Guisa, nacida bajo el auspicio del proyecto Cuba-3 FAO, en 1969, como parte de la red de estaciones del actual Instituto de Investigaciones Agro-Forestales, ubicada en la precordillera norte de la Sierra Maestra, uno de los principales macizos montañosos de Cuba, la que este año arriba a sus 50 años de existencia.
Su contribución al desarrollo forestal sostenible mediante la generación y/o transferencia de nuevas tecnologías que propicien la protección del medio ambiente y la eficiencia económica en la actividad forestal, sus trabajos, relacionados con la introducción de especies forestales, pruebas de especies, pruebas de progenies, fuentes semilleras y áreas de conservación de importantes recursos genéticos forestales y algunas especies amenazadas de extinción, han hecho de la misma un centro de relevancia para el territorio que abarca y para enfrentar los retos del desarrollo forestal del país.
