Main Article Content
Abstract
The investigation was carried out in 2015, in the settlement “El Macho”, Guisa municipality, Granma province. With the objective of characterizing the horizontal and vertical structure of the species present in the fragment of the gallery forest of the Guisa River, for the realization of this work a systematic sampling was done where height and diameter of all individuals with more than 7 were taken. cm in diameter and the number of taxa per species was counted by strata, the height classes and diametric classes were defined based on the range of the data obtained in the parametric measurements made, where the largest group of individuals was found in the classes of diameters and smaller heights decreasing their density towards the upper classes. The species best represented were: Samanea saman (Jacq.) Merr., Lonchocarpus dominguensis (Pers.) D.C., Roystonea regia (Kunth) O.F. Cook, Mangifera indica L., Guazuma tomentosa Kunth and Cupania americana L.
