Abstract

Starting from the characteristics of the forest patrimony of the Agroforestry Enterprise Granma and the technical supervision with it is managed, it was used the automated system SUMFOR v. 3.03 to determine the levels of carbon retained by their components and also for the projection of their base line for a period of ten year. The obtained results justify the Carbon pool capacity that have these forests, keeping in mind that they currentlly retain 14 638 Mt, contributed for the most part by the established artificial forests, those that accumulate in a general way something more than 7 428 Mt. As part of the natural forests, the formation Semideciduous on Calcareous Soil, and those categorized as protectors of Water and Soils, were the best, with values of 2 838,3 and 4 855,4 Mt respectively. For these reason, the contribution of the forest areas of this enterprise to the reduction of the effect hothouse, and to the stabilization of the climatic change, is excellent.
