Behavior of the growth de Brosimum alicastrum Sw. subsp. alicastrum in the experimental station agroforestal guisa
Main Article Content
Abstract
The study provides information on the growth of Brosimum alicastrum in a brown soil with carbonate belonging in the Guisa Agroforestry Experimental Station between 2015-2018, with the aim of evaluating the behavior of Brosimum alicastrum in its early stages of growth. Postures were developed in the nursery from seedlings from natural regeneration, under isolated trees located in the municipality of Niquero, Granma, in the town of Alegría de Pío. The plantation was carried out in 2014 and the measurements were made every six months from 2015 to 2018. Sixty individuals were chosen evaluating the total height and diameter of the stem at 10 cm from the ground. The average annual increase was determined and graphs of means were made for height and diameter. Brosimum alicastrum grew at a rate of 3.25 cm/year and 0.020 cm/year in diameter and height respectively, indicating its slow growth.
