Integration of tree structures in agricultural
Main Article Content
Abstract
Agroforestry Systems are a set of land management techniques, which consist of the combination of agricultural, livestock and forestry production. The Agroforestry Systems modalities selected for this work (Breaking Curtains, Living Fences, Trees on Borders) and Hydro regulating Forest Belts have been proposed in 26 initiatives of the PROSAM project (Accelerated Sustainable Food Production in five municipalities: Artemisa, Bejucal, Guanabacoa, Guiñes and Madruga. These they are implemented in order to protect construction infrastructures (posture houses, semi-protected and mini-industries) from the prevailing winds and minimize the mechanical damage that these produces to crops. The presence and selection of these types of tree structures allow to conserve the humidity of the soils in the productive areas, positively modify the microclimate of the site by reducing the temperature and increasing the humidity of the air, it is possible to increase the infiltration of the rain and the improvement of the quality of the waters for irrigation.
