Abstract
Dentro de los beneficios que se obtienen con el inventario, posiblemente el más útil es el que se refiere a la confección de tablas de volúmenes, partiendo de diámetros y alturas determinadas. Eso es lo que se ha hecho en este caso en el bosque puro de Pinus caribaea en Cajálbana, Pinar del Río. Como primera medida, se quiso determinar si las diferencias de altitud podrían influir en el volumen. Al comprobarse que había diferencias sustanciales, se prepararon las tablas de volúmenes locales por aplicación estadística de los datos recogidos en el campo. El volumen (V) de los árboles fue predicho por una regresión ponderada que incluye como variables independientes la altura del árbol (H), el diámetro cuadrado (D²) y la interacción de estas dos variables (D²H). V= 0.001738 – 0.000474 H + 0.000092 D² + 0.000029 D²H. Las ecuaciones, métodos de trabajo y simbología aplicada están resumidos en las 4 tablas que acompañan al trabajo.
