Characterization of woody species in version artificial forest gallery, south Park Grand Metropolitan Havana
Main Article Content
Abstract
The Forest of Protection (FP) is the Artificial Version of the Gallery Forest (AVGF), this has been established on both banks of the tributaries that run through the Grand Metropolitan Park of Havana (GMPH), consisting of different species growth habit. The objective of this work is to characterize the woody species in VABG of the south area of GMPH.. From a forest inventory in the strip that runs along the lower reaches of GPMH, a wealth of 30 woody species, distributed in 25 genera and 15 families were identified. 73 % of the taxones is exotic with different classification according to the state of growth and distribution range, alone 27% is recommended for FP. This situation coupled with other ecological changes greatly affects the development and function of the VAFG. These aspects indicate the need for ecological rehabilitation through forest conservation actions and plans include reforestation and management, as the gradual promotion of suitable indigenous species for these ecosystems, among other practices.
