Abstract
El empleo de posturas a raíz desnuda ha despertado gran interés en Cuba, debido a las ventajas económicas que representa. El propósito de este estudio fue determinar si era factible el manejo de P. caribaea a raíz desnuda en los suelos rojos montañosos (Guane), de Viñales y cuál era la mezcla de suelo más apropiada para su producción. El experimento fue montado con un diseño de bloques al azar con 3 réplicas y 8 tratamientos y su duración en el campo fue de 26 meses. La altura promedio de las posturas al llevarlas al campo, fue relativamente baja, comparada con la del material que se produce en bolsas, lo cual, al parecer, se debe a que la corta subterránea de raíces se comenzó a realizar muy temprano. Se hicieron análisis de varianza, análisis de los componentes de varianza y pruebas de rangos múltiples, el tratamiento 3 (mezcla de suelo + 1 kg de roca fosfatada) resultó ser el mejor, ya que en él se combina una alta supervivencia (91,2%), con la mejor altura promedio (0,83 m). A pesar de que se han obtenido buenos resultados se deben seguir haciendo investigaciones para determinar cuál es la corta subterránea de raíces más apropiada para esta especie.
