Main Article Content
Abstract
Starting from the results of the inventory of species that is present in the semideciduous forest on calcareous floor of the Farm El Cañón, located in the municipality and province of Santiago de Cuba, Cuba, were registered 75 forest species, of which 28 % are honey species, classified in its biggest proportion, approximately 62 %, like plants of main crops; being the rest species of secondary crops and maintenance plants. The economic estimation of the forest potential for the honey production, using the Rule of Farrar, estimated to production of 270 kg/honey/crop, equivalent to 0.27 t/honey/crop with 30 beehives in maximum situated in the area considering the surface of 15 ha, potential that would allow the generating of employment sources, for the characteristic activities of the productive system to implement, and some revenue, contribution to improve the salary stimulus of the workers, according to the results.
