Functional regenerative structure in microphyll semi-deciduous forest of Ecological Reserve Siboney-Juticí

Abstract

The microphyll semi-deciduous forest in Siboney-Juticí Ecological Reserve has experienced anthropogenic disturbances and the ecological restoration on these areas requires knowing the regenerative structure of the species and functional types under different disturbances levels. In the study, seedling, juvenile and adults were registered for each species in different disturbed sites; the species richness in each regenerative state was calculated. 77 % of species has very poor regeneration. Increase in the populations or in richness in some sites doesn’t imply an improvement of regenerative quality. The activities in high and moderate disturbed sites are producing an erosion of the response capacity of the forest.
