Magnolia cubensis Urb. subsp. cubensis poulation structure in the Ecological Reservation El Gigante
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research was developed in the Ecological reservation El Gigante, with the objective to determine the population structure of the species Magnolia cubensis Urb. subsp. cubensis. It started from the prospection of the populations and individuals, identifying seven scattered sub populations, grouped in isolated patches, from 1100 msnm, the total of individuals reaches 62, for the taxon. A monitoring to the populations was executed, through the population structure, development stages and phytosanitary status of the mass, resulted in a grouping of the individuals in intermediate height classes. According to their diameter, they are grouped into minro clases. It was noted the non existence of seedlings, which denotes problems in relation to the natural regeneration of the species, associated to the environmental conditions and the influence of fruit borers. The phytosanitary status is average, identified by the pathogens affectations of subpopulations.
