Effects of controlled burns in The natural regeneration of Pinus tropicalis morelet
Main Article Content
Abstract
The research was carried out in forests of P. tropicalis La Palma Forest Enterprise. On June 10th 2009, controlled burns were applied in experimental plots of 20 x 50 meters and fire, behavior was evaluated. By the use of controlled burns all the species in the bush stratum but it didn’t cause significative damages in trees stratum, two months after controlled burn, an increase of total number of individuals in the herbaceous stratum, before fire scarce Pine tree individuals were found in natural regeneration, but 18 months later, individuals average per ha. We can conclude that when applying controlled, burn, natural regeneration of P. tropicalis is favored allowing continuity of these ecosystems that are not natural regenerated due to diverse causes.
