Abstract
La Asamblea Nacional de las Naciones Unidas proclamó 2012 como Año Internacional de la Energía Sostenible para Todos.
Es la oportunidad de que todos tomemos conciencia de la importancia que los servicios energéticos poseen en todos los aspectos de la vida diaria, y de que el uso de una energía sostenible no contaminante, obtenida de fuentes renovables o de otras, con las menores emisiones posibles de dióxido de carbono, por su incidencia en el cambio climático, como es la energía solar o la eólica, que reducen el impacto ambiental, constituyen los principales objetivos de esta proclamación.
Naciones Unidas señala que hay más de 1400 millones de personas en el mundo sin electricidad, y que millones de personas más no tienen posibilidad de pagar estos servicios. No disponen de energía eléctrica para trabajar, ni los niños para estudiar, ni los hospitales para salvar vidas, y que más de tres millones de personas utilizan sistemas para cocinar y para calefacción que contaminan el medio ambiente, y hace un llamado para evitar que estas cifras se incrementen con nefastas consecuencias para la vida.
La Revista Forestal Baracoa se suma a estas actividades que conducen al logro de mejores condiciones para los seres humanos y para un medio ambiente más saludable.
