Environmental perception by the social actors of the Gigante Ecological Reserve

Abstract
The investigation was developed in El Gigante Ecological Reserve which is part of the National System of Protected Areas of local significance in Granma, with the objective of improve the knowledge about the conservation of threatened species that the social actors of «The Giant mountain range community» possess. It was used the methodology developed by CIPS-CIGEA, focused toward the evaluation of the sensibility and the responsibility, through the observation and the application of half-structured interviews. The results pointed out the scarce level of the actors’ knowledge, about the status of protected area and the juridical-administrative regulations that rule it. The sensibility regarding the conservation of threatened species identifies a demand of knowledge to satisfy by means of training actions.
