Forestry of Cuba at the end of 2007: changes the last five years
Main Article Content
Abstract
The main changes registered during the last half a decade (2003-2007) in the quantity of species used in the plantations and in the covered surface for them are presented, analyzing their variation for counties and nationally, contrasting their results with the interests expressed in the Forest Development Program up to the 2015, so much for the country, like for the forest enterprises. Important reductions of national existences were identified in plantations of pino macho (Pinus caribaea var. caribaea), mangle rojo (Rizophora mangle) and pino hembra (Pinus tropicalis), those that don’t agree always with the recommendations emitted in the 2003, as long as the main increments in areas are reported for pino de Mayarí (Pinus cubensis), teak (Tectona grandis) and eucalyptos (Eucalyptus sp.).
