Morphological characteristics of Cedrela odorata L. timber in intensive plantations
Main Article Content
Abstract
This work has the aim to make a preliminary evaluation of the morphological characteristics of Cedrela odorata L. species planting in intensively conditions in Viñales and Alquizar located. Is obtained samples of the trees from each zone that were using to calculate the eccentricity, elipticity, taper, percentage and bark thickness. The studies show the averages values uniting both zone were respectively of 4,7 and 4,8% for the eccentricity and elipticity, while the percentage and bark thickness were 5,89% y 1,63 mm . The taper had average value of 2,6 cm/m, being bigger for the zone of Viñales with 2,95 cm/m. The variance analysis show that not exist statistically significant difference between parts of the bole while the located had difference in eccentricity and, bark percentage. The results indicate that the bole has defects for industrial objectives, then requires in early ages forest management, for an appropriate selection of the species.
