Non-wood forest products in the community Soroa, Sierra del Rosario

Abstract
In the rural community Soroa, located in the west area of the reservation of the biosphere Sierra of the Rosario, municipality Candelaria, Pinar del Rio, Cuba, was carried out a study with the purpose of obtaining information on the properties and use of the vegetable and animals resources present in the area. For this work you arrived to the problem that the use of the products forest non maderables in the area, doesn’t lead to the sustainable handling of the ecosystems in the region, therefore the objective of the work is related with determining the use of these products for the residents of the place. This work confirms that the human population’s empiric knowledge on the plants and animals of the forest is a fundamental source to determine the potential uses of the species considered as nonwood forest products, scientifically.
