Abstract
Cinco diferentes métodos de preparación del suelo para plantaciones forestales, fueron ensayados en la Estación Experimental Forestal de Viñales, provincia de Pinar del Río. La investigación se realizó para determinar las pérdidas de suelo y agua que se producen en cada tratamiento, como consecuencia del escurrimiento superficial de las aguas de lluvia. También se midieron la altura y la supervivencia del Pinus caribaea var. caribaea, plantado en cada uno de los tratamientos. Se describen las características generales del suelo y se informa sobre la vegetación natural. También se da cuenta de los resultados obtenidos en los análisis físico-químicos realizados y de los métodos que se emplearon en los mismos. Se detallan los trabajos de campo efectuados y se acompañan con tablas indicativas de los resultados obtenidos.
