Abstract
At present in Cuba, one of the most important non-timber products is the resins which is a source of exportation of around 350 000 dollars; however it lost between the 42-50% of their value per ton per year due to the fact that is it not modified. Previous studies about the composition of the Pinus caribaea var. caribaea shown that it compounds by 75% of different resin acids and up to the 15% of the solid phase called turpentine, besides it known about some sealing properties especially in the solid phase turpentine, while the resins acids favoured the stability of the mix and facilitates the phenomena of adsorption which can also contributed to the sealing capacities. Therefore, it is possible to think that it can be used to improve the properties of the asphalt in terms more plasticity, ductibility, reducing the cracking and melting proccess of the asphalt given by exposition to the environment. Here we were able to obtain a new sealing-asphalt mix with black colour, semisolid constitutions, in hot application and with a density of 1,10 g/cm3 and medium consistency according to the 052-004 Cuban regulation at 25oC, at 100 g of mobile load at 5 s: 100-107 dmm; ductibility measured by the 052-004 Cuban regulation at 25oC with a traction velocity of 50 mm/min: 13-14 cm, inflammation point of 52-58oC with the 054/48 regulation and showing a good behaviour by insulation.
