Mitigación del cambio climático por concepto de fijación de CO2 en los bosques de la EFI Baracoa, provincia de Guantánamo: segunda aproximación
Main Article Content
Abstract
The estimation of the retained carbon of the EFI Baracoa´s patrimony was done using a base-year method (2002), in order to facilitate the establishment of the carbon retention base line for that Cuban forest enterprise. For that were used informations contained in the enterprise’s forest ordination project, taking in to consideration data referred to surfaces and existing woody volumes of its plantations, divided by species, or by its natural forests, grouped by forest formation, for natural forests, plantations, for no forest areas and for deforested ones. From that base it is possible to determine the carbon base line retention and later, it would be possible to compare this line with the real carbon retention of every future year, in order to analyze the behaviour of carbon kidnapping and to evaluate appropriately the Enterprise management of this environmental service, as a way to sustain the bases to formulate a mitigation strategy specially focus to the increase of the space – temporal deposits of carbon and therefore, the value they possess, contributing in that way with the accomplishment of the commitment acquired by Cuba at the Convention of the United Nations for Climatic Change.
