Abstract
«Hay que cuidar de reponer las maderas que se cortan, para que la herencia quede siempre en flor». Así avizoraba Marti la necesidad y continuidad de los bosques. Los investigadores, técnicos y obreros vinculados con este sector tenemos la responsabilidad de garantizar el cuidado y desarrollo del bosque; no podemos perder de vista tal sentencia. El trabajo que desarrollamos cada día va encaminado a proteger y propiciar la continuidad de esa herencia. Tanto las formaciones naturales como las plantaciones constituyen un ecosistema conformado por especies vegetales y animales que dan lugar a la existencia de nuestros bosques con su rica fauna cubana.
Cada resultado del trabajo investigativo que aparece en estas publicaciones de la Revista Forestal Baracoa va encaminado a fortalecer el papel del bosque en la sociedad, que no es solo un recurso natural que nos proporciona beneficios ambientales y económicos. Es también un escudo protector y de supervivencia ante una agresión militar por el enemigo, un refugio natural para nuestra población. El bosque es fuente de vida. Continuemos todos unidos trabajando por él.
