Abstract
Grades of global stock on different natural broadleaves stands were determined at La Palma Forest Enterprise, Pinar del Río. Stratified 500m² sample plots were settled at representative parts of stands. Inventory was expressed as G (m²/ha), V (m³/ha) and n (trees/ha). Trees were classified as fine species, very hard species, middle hard species, secondary saw species and other non economical trees, in order to apply Schulz Rule and Stand Formula. Data of sample plots shows that Range of Occupation go from complete stocked, rather good to poor stocked stands. These poor stockes were 50% of studied sites. Stand number 5, block 38, enriched with Mahoe (Hibiscus elatus, Sw) in 1992, reveals that 25% of stock is Mahoe planted in groups, 10 year before, have 12,3 m height and 12 cm mean diameter. In general, indicated treatment and enrichment with commercial species as Mahoe can increases timber value of sites, preserves these stands for the future and for their biodiversity. This work has application in other similar forest sites in Pinar del Río province.
