Abstract
In Cuba, startingfrom 1999 a strong movement investor has been carrying out in the sphere of the forest industry, where it deserves to stand out the acquisition ofthe sawed wooden dryers, one in the classic ways of guaranteeing the increase of the natural durability of the wood sawed setting in service. Collaterally to these investments it becomes necessary to have indispensable technical elements that facilitate to use in ali their potential the installed capacities. In this field they deserve to stand out the programs of artificial drying Jor different thick and the charts of tangential contraction; this last one allows to know in that magnitude is necessary over dimension to the wood sawed during its processed to achieve that later to its drying it acquires the dimensions requested. by the client. Presently uiork: the species Lysiloma latisiliquum Benth is studied (tan), Swietenia mahagoni (L.) Jacq. (antillean mahogany); Calophyllum brasiliense Britton (ocuje), Cedrela odorata L. (cedar) and Bursera simaruba (L.) Sargent (almácigo), species that are considered of the most important in the solid one Jorest of the Zapata Swamps in the Matanzas Province. They are expressed in tables the obtained resulis, which refer to the programs of artificial drying for the thick of 2.54, 5.0 and 7.5 cm; also, the table of tangential contraction of the wood sawed in each one of the species.
