Abstract
Laurocerasus occidentalis (Sw.) Roem, of the family of the Amygdalaceas, distributed in the whole Island, mainly in the Central and Orien- tal region of the country, in humid forests. Due to the limitless pruning the species has regulated its pruning to individuals with supe- rior diameters to 30 cm, according to the Forest Law of the Republic of Cuba. The necessity to specify its phenology and to obtain a bigger quantity of fruits in the appropriate time, was carried out a phenological studies during ten years (1989-1999) in this species, under the conditions of Topes de Collantes corresponding to rainforest. It was used the method of phenological observations and analysis of Canonical Correlations to determine the relationships with the climatic factors of the region The species is even green, the flowers appear between september and november and the fruits they mature between march and april, it dates good for its gathering.
